Bought a new 2018 Q7. Great vehicle. Used a quart of oil in the first couple of thousand miles. I chalked it up to break-in, etc. I asked the service manage at my dealership about oil use and he said (quote) "Using 2-3 quarts oil per 10k miles is well within Audi specifications". I asked him the question several times in different ways and got the same answer. He then recommended that I carry a couple of quarts of oil with me in the car. I called Audi USA and they said, "We stand by our dealers" and wouldn't answer my question about what is the Audi spec and what my expectations should be. I'm reasonably sure that the Service Manager had been drinking at lunch, bu this is my first Audi... Comments?

 

What engine is in your Q7? Regardless, in my opinion that's is too much oil consumption for a new engine. I joined this forum to learn about the issues Q7 owners might be having and to me this isn't good. I've had seven Bimmers and none used oil between recommended changes. Good luck and sorry to hear of your dilemma.

 

I am having the same issue but it appears to be far worse. I am going through a quart every 500-600 miles. My tech advisor tells me it is the rings in the piston that are causing the problem. evidently, there is a "scraping" ring that is supposed to remove the excess oil but it gets clogged and therefore the excess is burned off. In addition, I have had to replace the low and high-pressure fuel injectors on cylinder 1, the oil pressure regulator valve, the right-side intake manifold, and a coil pack for cylinder 1. Since May/22 I have spent about $6K on repairs and am frustrated and hesitant to drive it anymore.

I love this car with all its features and performance but don't know if I can continue with this brand. I switched from an Acura MDX and may have to go back. Is anyone else having similar issues besides oil consumption?
