Brake lights in bumper

Does anyone know if there is a way via VCDS to program a Q7 (2007) to make use of the brake lights/turn signals in the bumper when the hatch is closed (in conjunction with the hatch lights). The reason I ask is because I recently installed an aftermarket powered trailer wiring module and used the wiring that sent power to the bumper lights to trigger the trailer lights instead of running wires all the way up the pillar to get to the wires that feed the hatch. I tested everything out before reattaching the bumper cover and it worked fine but then when I put everything back together and tested it with the hatch closed I found that my brake and turn signals to the trailer wiring were no longer working since the car was using the lights on the hatch only.
I could rewire everything but I'd rather not have to deal with repairing the spliced wires and doing it all over again if I can make the lights work via VCDS.
