Looking at buying a 17/18 and have questions ...
Hi all -- New to the forum, but an A6 driver now looking at a second hand 2017/18 Q7.
I have a 2015 A6 that has been absolute gold -- 120K miles now, drives like new, and never a day's problem. I like it so much that when our 2016 XC90 was totalled last month, I started looking for a 17/18 Q7 to replace it.
Then I started reading horror stories about the electronics failing, throwing codes left and right, $600 to change a headlight bulb etc. So now I'm thinking twice.
My questions are:
Are these kinds of stories outliers, or are they common, from your experiences?
And is there a difference re: technical difficulties if you avoid the models with all the bells and whistles (ie virtual cockpit, vision package etc)? I have to say I did drive a prestige and it threw 3 codes in 5 minutes of driving and the bluetooth kept dropping in and out. It almost made me give up there and then, but it's SUCH a beautiful rig I'm finding it hard to let go.
Any advice more than welcome! Many thanks.
