Hey guys Im in the market for a Q7 and I would just like to know what you like about your car and what you would like to see changed.. Plus I think this would be a good way to share some tips between us to maintain and improve our cars... So come on people lets hear it!!!

 

Thanks Q7Monster, I was thinking the same. I have no experience with any of the Audi models, only heard they're expensive to maintain.

 

if your in the luxury SUV market go with a Toureg or a Cayenne.

 

And why not a Q7?
The Touareg, Cayenne and Q7 are all derivatives of the "Volkswagen 7L" platform.

They are essentially the same underpinnings. So why exclude the Q7 in your recommendation, just curious?

 

I own a Q7 3.0 TDI - before buying I tested all of the competition, and, quite frankly and with no previous preferences one way or another, the Q7 won.

Why? Well, it came closest to what I need - a big car with lots of room and just enough offroad ability to drive in the snow or on gravel roads to my weekend cottage in the hills. In any other respect, it is a superb limousine for driving long distances with more than enough comfort for my needs. Lots of room for the entire family, build quality is superb, working like a charm.

The competiton I tested: BMW X5 - not really a conterder for me, a clear win for Q7. Looks and feels spartan, not a luxury SUV. VW Touareg - good, a bit stronger in offroad, but less space and not to mention it looks old and interior did not agree with my taste. Mercedes ML - well, a really good car, but too pricy for what it offers and no real advantage over Q7. Porsche Cayenne - a real muscle SUV, but again the looks are a bit off for me and the petrol engine is thirsty like hell. Not to mention price which is waaay off for what it offers.

So, I ended up with a Q7 3.0 TDI - the only weak point (for me) is a relative lack of power, but it will be dealt with shortly with chiptuning.

 

And there you have it...

 

Anyone have views on the 4.2 TDI?
the wife has orderd one theres about 8 weeks to go

Somewhere I've read that the rear seating area is only good if you're 5'-5" and under. Judging by the time delay in this thread, there's not to many Q7 owners around.
