We also just bought a 2008 Audi TT Roadster. We have had it since March. Before we bought it, the Dealer had the Left flap mother replaced. Now the top isn't working again. It will go down, no problem but will not go up. We have tried to "reset" it. That worked for a while but now it won't work at all. And our car is missing the key for the convertible top. Apparently the cost to buy another key from Audi is around $300. Ugh!

 

The dealer finally got the top to operate, but without codes. then after multiple cycles, they said they received the code that indicated both motors needed replaced, to the tune of $830, and since the key magically disappeared while the car was at the dealer (although we can't prove it), they charged us another $94 for a new key. I must say, though, that aside from the convertible top issues, the car is running well. just passed 100k. It keeps my wife happy.

 

My 2008 TT once again....4th time is a charm...roof won;t go up....its been in 3 times over the years....flap motors...flap sensors etc... I had my neighborhood mechanic put it up for me manuallly and he go to the tool that pulls it shut (the one you need the little tool for) ...and the tool was broken....the only people to touch that has been Audi...nice....leaving a broken tool for me. Done. Now to get rid of it.
Audi has never cared about their customers. This is my 2nd TT...I had a 2001 and now a 2008. Good bye Audi.

 

After having my flap motors fixed or replaced multiple times in the nine years I have owned my 2008, I have not used the top in the last 4 years. I don't trust that it won't freeze again at the wrong time. At least I like the look of my "coupe" much better than the hatchback. It is somewhat noisier than the hardtop.
