300-350 whp

I'm trying to get 300-350whp out of the 180 engine. I'm new to modifying European cars so I'm trying to get an idea of some of the most reliable, affordable, and common methods of achieving this power range.

Thanks

there is no cheap way to do my friend...
I say go with a ko4 hybrid, and it will hook up to your existing mani. but you will need to upgrade your downpipe with a 42draft or other preferably "3 and cat-back exhaust. also if you go the bigger turbo route you will need a new remap flash program, because your car wont run right with the new turbo unless you do it. Im sure there are some other things but ill give this link to someone whom has successfully used the ko4 hybrid also known as the eliminator kit. most people prefer bigger turbos but it depends on the power you want to make.

Here is the link to the Hybrid tutorial:
http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/ttforumbbs...2b19885ed4ddcb

and also if you go this route your gonna end up spending about 4-5k
and if you go the bigger turbo route it will be about 6-8k

The post you're referring to...the "K04 hybrid" is the rubbish known around Audi/VW as the "eliminator." It's big Garrett turbos but using stock exhaust housings in order to work on the stock exhaust manifold. Problem is, stock housing+manifold flow like crap so you get massive lag and little power.

You're going to want a GT28RS kit or a T3-60 trim kit to hit 300-350whp. That...is going to be $3000+

Only elims worth it are the gt2x and gt28r since they only produce 240-260whp and are still fine with the stock's small ass turbo inlet (its basically what kills the GTRS (gt28rs version) and GT71R (gt2871r).

For a 28rs expect to pay closer to $3500-3700 for a nice kit and $3200 for the t3s60. The gt28rs can make 300-320whp on pump and around 350whp on race while the t3s60 is about 280-300whp on pump and closer to 320whp on race. Another choice is a t3t4 50trim kit. You will be able to make up to 350whp on pump gas and safe for stock rods. This kit will cost about the same as the t3s60 kit. With rods and race gas, you can get close to or even reach 400whp with supporting mods of course.

The best place for all of this is from arnold @ pagparts.com

what about those numbers for a 225tt what would it take

RE: 300-350 whp

if your talking about rods, there isnt a set power level but i would say its safe with but i would go with

225 - 320-325tq
ATC 180 - 315-320tq
AWP 180 - 300-310tq

Anything above those and your pushing your luck. In other words, one good boost spike and your engine is gone.
