audi tt 1.8 fwd to awd

Is it possible to convert a fwd audi tt to the quattro awd system? Is there like an awd conversion kit I could purchase? Has anyone done it?

might be a very expensive adventure.
from being new i think the fwd are 180 and the awd are 225 hp.
right there you may need to find a way to get power up, from ecu, harness wow that's alot of othere things todo
now move onto the exhaust single to dual, then the drive train, drive shaft differentials, upgrade on the brakes.....
with all the money into the conversion, you could just get the awd.
just my 02.

i did it. I have a 180FWD that I was having traction problems with in the snow. I bought this kit HERE and it works great. It was about the same price as the kit in labor to install. You might be able to do it yourself though.

diehlryan,
wow, is it really that simple?
i was reading the ad and it said refrain from turning left or right? is it just for drag racing purposes?
i would assume that it connects the drive wheel to the no drive component, kinda same principle on a tank, only a drive sprocket and rollers.
am i missing something here?

That is absurd! My blinkers make a "tick" noise EVERY time, think the blinker fluid could help me? I have noticed I am only getting around 50 TPM (ticks per minute of course) i'm hoping to get up around 75 TPM to keep up with the local rice crowd.

SELL YOU CAR AND BUY A DIFFERNT ONE!! Seriously, the cost to convert is well over $10k and far less than just buying a differnt one. NOTHING is the same.

I saw a new beetle today with approx 75 TPM on the right rear turn signal. My first though was obviously the front turn signal was out. I was getting ready to pass on the right (it was in the left lane of a 2 lane road about 100yds from a redlight intersection) and as I passed I took a quick look to see if the front signal was indeed out. What I saw was pure horror. The beetle had just rear-ended a Ford Bronco.Wouldn't you know it, the front signal was out. [sm=smiley11.gif]
