Default Audi tt problems?

i am looking to buy a tt, but after some research, there seems to be alot of problems with tt... such as the windows being stuck, leaks oil, burns oil, gauge malfunction, remote lock/unlock problems, etc... what scares is not the problems in general, but the fact that a lot of people are experiencing the same problems... for reference... a guy dedicated a website just to let people know how crappy tt is... http://www.myaudittsucks.com/audi_motivate.html

i really love the car and am hoping to buy 1 really soon, but after seening this.. i dont know what to say, have you guys been experiencing the same thing?

I have a 2001 TT, 180HP, FWD with only 25K miles on it. I found the website that you listed detailing TT problems very interesting. I can certainly sympathize with this individual especially having experienced a portion of the problems that he describes on my own car. These are common problems and you will find many people on different Audi Forums discussing similar problems, fortunately not all on one car. Hopefully my statement will not start a holy war, but if i had to do it all over again I would not buy this car. Yes it is attractive, yes it is fun to drive, but the poor reliability and expense of repair does not make-up for these attributes. Strictly my opinion...

I have had a couple problems with my tt but like only one or 2 that that site said. Every kind of car will have problems unless it is a Honda, and the way that you drive it. And All Euro cars are expensive to get fixed in the states. At least Audi has a good warrenty.

Maybe the "problems" have been resolved with the newer models....

dont think so, if thats the case, they would have found alot of the solutions to the older model, but obviously, they didnt.

HAH!, Sounds to me like some non car (and apparently non-thought) enthusiast got an abUSED tt or maybe a lemon and then poorly wrote a review on a subject he knows nothing about, read his section about engine "Malfuntion" the motor "runs ruff" and "loses power" when engaging the clutch, perhaps where he comes from they don't give thier cars throttle on take-off? well anyway, my 2001 Ko4 coupe hasn't had a single "malfunction" in 41,000 miles, so whoever this guy is, he probably bought some Ex-business trip car with 180,000 miles on it, and now he's gone sour grapes. i wouldnt pay any attention to him. especially since i've NEVER heard of any of the problems he described.

I wouldn't discount everything that he has written. I am the original owner of my car, and as indicated in my thread above I have experienced some of the problems although nothing as drastic as the engine loosing power. To date I've had power window problems on both sides requiring 6 visits to the dealer to fix. One side is acting up again. The instrumentation console went "belly up" and had to be replaced. The diverter valve was replaced. The brake switch was replaced. Transmission is exhibiting "notchiness". There were/are other problems but I don't want dwell on that. The important thing is that when I searched on other Audi Forums for information on my problems there were a lot of owners reporting identical issues. Also if you check in Consumers Report on this car you will see that owners report subpar reliability even though their satisfaction with the car is high. Again it's a beautiful car and is fun to drive, but it is not reliable. If you had no problems, you are a lucky man.

I 100% agree. I love my tt, but the dealer has already invested 2400 into it and Ive only had it for 6 months. If you want reliability, buy a honda or toyota...
