Autocrossing tire question: 245/45-17
Just a quick question for anyone in the know:
I have an '01 Quattro that I'm autocrossing in DS. I should really be running R compounds but I'm not into buying-carrying-changing wheels so for the first two events I've been on hardass 400 treadwear PZero Neros. Can you say "pushmonster"?!? Even running on the rockhard M+S tires I've won my class both times by well over a second (go little TT!!). I'm ordering some Hankook RS2 Z212s this week. Here's the question: Should I stay with the stock 225s or bump up to 245s? I'll still be on the stock 7.5" wheels.....anyone else shoehorned 245's onto them, and if so have you had any issues with fender rub etc?? Thanks in advance....Quattros rock and TT's kick ass!! ;) |

im running 255/45-17's on my car, but stock suspension, no problems though. What height are you at?

Thanks for the reply Ach! I'm on OE suspension (can't lower in Stock class). I guess 245's it is....the aesthetic improvement won't suck but it's all about the grip!

RE: Autocrossing tire question: 245/45-17
I have been racing my TT in DS as well, I run Kumho ecsta Mx on the stock 225 size, they work well, I haven't thought about moving up. I am however putting new suspension on soon so no more stock class.
