i'd call that not engaging at all.
You ever pull codes on it to see if the controller is throwing an error?

Honestly, unless you can find a heck of a deal on a used controller, I'd look for a replacement rear end w/ controller. You could probably pick up a working unit for $500, takes about 3hrs to swap, and you'll have knocked out the possibility of either the controller or the clutch pack being the problem. Only not-as-easy to get tool you'll need is a triple square driver one size bigger than what you normally pick up in the 4 pack sets you can find in a parts store. I got mine thru Snap-On.

But the fact that the rear wheels move, would make sense that is is not the electronic controller....maybe fluid related or clutch related?

consider it residual friction? know what I mean?

prop shaft is putting power to the LSC, but clutch isn't clamping. That doesn't mean the clutch disks aren't touching, they just aren't clamping. They'll drag the wheels along, but they won't put down power.

It'd be good to know if there were any codes for the controller, because that's the more common failure. I still don't think you've confirmed/denied any DTC's for the controller, so whats the story?

I pulled no codes when checking it with VAGCOM like a normal dtc for A MIL, which there wasn't. Is that how you check it?

yeah, thats how you check it. Leads me to believe its a clutch pack problem. When was the last time you changed the fluid, and do you remember if the fluid was very dirty looking? My fluid changes usually involved pretty clean looking oil being drained out... until the time before I noticed an issue. Then it was very dark, and you could see a lot of debris in it.

This was clearly answered earlier in the thread. Please save yourself the trouble of answering my silly question.
