If you chip you need a turbo timer too

Not really. Most of us dispense with the Turbo Timer. Just take it easy the last mile or so to the house or let it run for a couple of minutes before you shut it off.

If you have a 225, it pumps coolant thru the turbo after you shut off the engine, if you have a 180 this feature is not avaliable so you may want to just take it easy or you can just let the car run for like two minutes before you turn it off, yea its a poor mans turbo timer but that is what I do at the track. While im loggin in my times and checking out my car for the next run I let it cool off.

in my opinion

1) chip (apr, giac, revo) I have apr and it is excellent, & dv (forge 007p, baily, etc., just dont get a blow off)

2) Intake (modshack ttda or vtda, neuspeed, etc. I would get the modshack now that i look back on it before i bought my neuspeed)

3) exhaust (borla, apr, forge, miltek)

4) **** w/ 4 bar fpr and boost machine from modshack

and of course you will need a boost gauge

Has anyone heard of cutting out the bottom of your intake box when you've installed a K&N drop in? I heard that this would improve the performance greatly.

I've heard of some drilling holes in the stock airbox, it would improve airflow. But the downside is that you are sucking hot air out of the engine compartment. The higher your intake air temp, the lower your available power would be. Any gain in air volume would likely be offset by the increase in temps.

Okay now here is the $64k question - where's the best place to get the APR chip - swaybar - gauges, etc?

If you can get the chip locally that is usually best. Otherwise you can send your ECU off to APR or ECSTuning and they turn it around in a couple of days.

As for the other stuff, shop around a little. Try the following:

PureMotorsports
TTStuff
Dakota Digital Gauges
Tcarbon
Summit Racing

That Dakota Digital reminds me of my '89 240SX - it had a digital speedometer and a heads up display. Loved that! Would be cool to get that back again...

So what items can you get from them?
