Default Best year to buy

So when I moved to Chicago, I had to sell my car. Which at the time, was a 300zx Shiro Special. Now that I'm up here, I am getting the itch to get a sports car again. I have always wanted a TT so I'm going for it. I want a 225hp Quattro Coupe. What is the best year to buy? I have seen things here and there of problems. Seems like the 2002 or 2003 are the ones to go for. Is thisa fair assumption?

mmm shiro... those are clean looking.

I definitely don't miss any of my 3300zx's though

No changes between those two years that affect reliabliltyas far as I know.

Buy as new as you can for as cheap as you can.
Oh, and geta White TT. I wish I did every time I see one.

There is a huge diff between 02 and 03. The 03's get VVT and a wbo2 which makes a huge difference. Its best to get an 03+ if you plan on going with a larger turbo in the future, if not, a 01+ 225 will be fine thats in good shape since the end power will be basically the same

diff between all models are in the FAQ

How does the 2001 fair reliablity wise? From looking at post on edmunds and other websites it appears that had a lot of little problems all the time. Is this the case for all 2001 or just the 180hp models? I'm a newbe all the way here with the TT. I need to be able to make it my daily driver.

I have an 01 180q and aside from the very common gauge cluster issue I have not had any abnormal problems. 112k- APR tuned on stock turbo and clutch and until recently, stock unrevised coilpacks. My TT has had all maintainence performed on schedule and that is key with these cars, if you buy an abused or poorly maintained one it will quickly bring you to tears.

I read all these posts about problems folks have had, and I count my blessings that my car turned out for me the way it did. I didn't know much about the car when I bought mine, just that I had wanted one since the first time I saw one. I definately would do it again though. These cars rock.
