The stock airbox is a huge restriction now. You really should invest in a large nice intake. I would really recomend this and for under $100, you cant ask for more.

Holding whatever psi till redline is fine as long as your not forcing it by tighting the wastegate down to where it wont open. So if you just added the mbc and thats what it did, its perfectly fine, its when you start messing with the wastegate when you have a problem.

No, I haven't touched the wastegate. With my turbo and the stock airbox, how much HP do you think is being held back? Maybe added turbo lag to boot?

I have a couple of cone filters I'll try and give a follow up.

THX

Will that exact intake fit with the stage 3+ kit? It says it is a 3" intake flange, I was told that I needed one thats 3.5"?

If he is still using the stock airbox, he is still on the stock maf housing size which is 3" od.

Well I was asking for both of us, I belive that the APR stage 3+ comes with different MAF housing which I think is alittle bigger. I had to take off my modshack VTDA because it wouldnt fit.

it doesnt give the od on apr's site, but if he is using his box, it has to be 3". Also using a VTDA on a BT car is not a very good idea, that filter is tiny and the housing isnt helping much either. You want FLOW FLOW FLOW. Higher the better.

The APR MAF is definitely a little largerthan stock. It looks like my mechanic did a little work on my airbox to make it fit. And that cheese grater looking air straightener is mounted inside the airbox . So my cone filter and VTDA are essentially the same size and wouldn't fit around the new MAF. I had a piece of hose laying around that worked temporarily to try it out. And wow, what a difference. Contrary to what I would have thought, the turbo is actually quieter with the VTDA. It just sounds like it's no longer suffocating. I am going to try a cone filter tomorrow. Such a difference that when I shifted into 3rd gear and the turbo kicked in (which it seems like it spooled much quicker) the tires started to break loose until the haldex took over.....pretty substantial gain I would say.

Good advise, Thx again
