So I was at a stop light yesterday, an my 01 225 starts revving up to 6000 rpms by itself. It lasted for about 30 seconds before returning to normal...afterwards I smelled a burning smell, but the car ran fine. It happened once about 2 months ago also.

Car has 70k miles, 6speed

Anybody have any suggestions? I would appreciate any help.

You are a dipshit for not turning the car off, or using the clutch to drop the rpm's. I can see you being caught off guard and letting it happen for 5 seconds one time.

But it's happened before, and you let it go that long?

Do you check to see if the stove is hot with your face?

sounds like the joy of having a DBW car. Worse idea ever. Clean and realign you TB and you should be ok.

 

Yes... They told us frozen throttle cables would be a thing of the past...

I'll try cleaning the TB over the weekend...any tips or suggestions?

 

just take it off and spray it with some carb/tb cleaner. Let dry and reinstall. Just dont mess with the butterfly.
