If the car isn't overheating i would think its a faulty coolant temp sensor. The sensor is on the driver's side on the back of the motor.

It pretty much stays right in the middle when Im tooling around town...I didnt even see it get past that point at all last night or this morning...and its pretty windy today, so I dont know if thats keeping the temp down.

No the wind shouldn't have any effect on the engine temp, i would buy a coolant temp sensor first and see if that does it. It should be like $20-$40 at www.ecstuning.com

So is there a way I can reset my check engine light, or does it have to be done by a qualified professional?

Just go to autozone and have them erase the code for you.

Ok...my check engine light went off all by itself when i startedthe carto go home...WTF?? does anyonne know why it would do that??

It basically came on with the other dash icons, and then went off at the same time the others did...is that weird to anyone else?

Does that mean I had a false reading?

It just means that the fault is "static" meaning that the problem isn't always there, another reason why i think its the coolant temp sensor.

My guess is that it's a coolant temp/level code!

Autozone sells these little OBD-ll scanners for close to $80.
That's what I bought to hold me over until purchasing a VAG cable and software.
It fits perfectly in the glove box...

I totally called it first! So what if I was being facetious?
