Convertible Rear Power Window Belt?

Okay, my rear power window (the one that comes up right behind the seats) on the 2001 Audi TT Quattro quit working... Well, one side quit rolling up. I took the panel off to see that the ribbed belt that was in there was broken. Does anyone know what this belt is called, or where I could buy it?

I've been informed that this window is called the wind deflector or wind stop! With that info I was able to find a part #8N7862997.

I replaced mine... Worked for about 6mos, quit working again. Easy to replace, but not worth the $80 the belt cost.

Replacement is pretty easy, just take out the plastic piece behind where the window comes out. Then you have two little pop rivets that can be drilled out (i used a small nut/bolt to put it back together.

Rear Window Belt Replacement

For other people searching for a replacement... My 2001 TT had the same issue. Refused to pay $200+ for a piece of rubber. Popped the backout, drilled the rivets out, replaced with the below part number. Works great again.

Here's a replacement belt that works great and is priced correctly. Two version, one is welded, other is weld-less.

Welded, endless belt:

Welded Belt Steel Cords

Part Numbers:
10T5/2090-WPS (welded endless) $18.99 ea. Delivery 1 week
10T5/2090-PFX (truly endless, No weld) $31.50 ea. Delivery 7-8 weeks

To order no-weld unit send email to zak: zak@polybelt.com 973 340 7444

Disclosure: I neither work for or have any association other than happy customer with polybelt.
