Default date/time resetting itself - PLEASE HELP!

Anyone know the cause of the date and time resetting itself every morning? All the other gauges seem to be fine.

Thanks,

Eric

If it was his battery we would hear about how it barely or doesnt start. But it does seem his battery is cutting in and out, but again, no complaints about starting or power supply

Mine resets from time to time, usually after a rough start (low tank of gas usually the car will turn over, sputter, stall, and then start fine).

I'd get the battery checked/replaced, seems like it happens when theres a big draw on the battery, but afterwards, its fine.

Actually I got the battery checked at Advance. They said it seemed fine. It never quite hit 12.5 volts though. It was a little over 12 and slowly going up. Seems to start OK. Do you all think it is the battery? It is the original battery (2001). Any other suggestions?

Thats an old battery, and if its not quite hitting 12.5, that might be just enough of a glitch to throw off the cluster, but not affect starting.

Will an Optima battery fit in there with no modifications or do I need a special battery?

Do you have any car audio mods/upgrades?
A weak ground in your audio application will cause a very slow drain; enough to reset the time and date after a few hours. Also, over time you'll get false warning lights from electrical anomolies caused by the ground. I made the mistake of having a professional instalation done (usually do it all myself) and had that issue. It started with just time, date, and trip odometer resetting each morning and got worse over time.

Eventually I just chose to completely redesign and redo the entire thing myself and it went away. My other option was to take it back and let them find the ground... but I'd rather redo it all myself.

The car is totally stock. Although I did have Sirius installed back in May. This problem just started a few weeks ago. Thanks for any help/advice.
