Haha ya once you drive a german car you will never go "HOGGIN" again. I think that you are mistaken about German cars, they are differnt than everyone elses idea. They dont make sports cars, they are really well known for "Sleeper" cars. Come on the new S6 station wagon that has 525+hp, i mean talk about a grocery getter.... They have come up with the idea of luxury and performance combined into one car. Sure the TT may be cramped for a 6'+ frame but im 6'3" and dont complain at all. I almost bought a S2k instead of my TT, but then I thought about how you have to beat the crap our of that motor to get any type of power and I really didnt want that. Dont get me wrong I like the S2k's and I think that they are very good street cars, but the menal vision behind the engineers for Audi and Honda have two differnt ideas for their companies. So in that I dont think that they "comparable" by any means, a Honda is a Honda and a Audi a Audi, not like a Acura is a Honda as is Audi to VW. That is "comparable" but not the other way around. I mean 40K car brand new vs. whats a S2K like 30K and some change? I am not being ignorant its just that in my heart there is no room for "rice". Like I have always said "To each his own..."

 

Right off the line, before I even get into my rant. I want to note to all Audi TT owners that I love my car.


This said, to all of you honda and ricers that have been joining this board, I want to remind you unlike your Honda's and little rice burners, our TT's are some of the CHEAPEST German cars made. $40K is the STARTING price for a german auto. In no way shape or form does a Honda even enter the same personna that a TT brings to the table. My 7 series was an animal...made my TT look like complete Trash, mind you I love my TT...but it had NOTHING on my 7 series. Other than speed. Even there with the proper super charger I would distroy the standard modd'd TT.


Before you pick a fight with German cars....look at the level your attacking ...ENTRY level german cars... which oddly enough are above average for the HIGH end economy cars (Hondas/Fords/Chevy's) ...etc.. .Heck were even leaving out the cheap *** eco's like kia's and hundi's

 

Well I am sort of missing your point I guess. So are you saying that Hondas should be as good as German made cars, even though the German made cars start at 40k and Hondas start considerably less? And pointing out that your 7-series (which cost what? 60-70k new?) is better than your 40k TT is sort of like saying that your 1,000,000 house is better than a $500 a week rented apartment. Shouldn't it be way better? I dont think anyone would try to compare these cars really. But pointing out the obvious here doesnt mean that the Japanese cars are "rice burners" or cheaply made. They are not. They are extremely well made, and using very good materials too. I would take an Accord over a Passat, and a Civic over a Golf any day. But I would (and probably will) get a TT over my Prelude.. I guess I think its just dumb to think that people who like Hondas are ricers or something, and that we think somehow that our cars are "better" than a TT or whatever...

I'm guessing you don't have much seat time in any Audi/VW's. I've driven/rode in quite a few different cars, and I like to try to compare how the stand to each other, as for fit and finish, the European cars have everything beat, hands down. Between my accident at the beginning of the month, and 2+ years of traveling for work, I've driven quite a few different rental cars, I think I'm somewhat qualified to judge.

I wish Top Gears review of the Ford F-150 Lightning was still available, Clarksons views of that truck match my views of most domestic and Asian vehicles. Poorly fit interior panels, excessive use of plastic, I certainly don't need a bread box sized panel framed into my dash that says airbag, theres cleaner ways around it, the technology IS there.

 

What an interesting thread. So, anybody ever driven a Z06?If you have the opportunity I recommend you don't pass it up. Rather impressive for a mere American-made 2-valve pushrod normallyl aspirated engine, and not nearly expensive enough to be considered "exotic." However 0-60 in 3.9 seconds (C5 version) is sure a lot of fun, though, and that's just for starters; handling, braking, etc. are all equally impressive, and all this with 26 mpg highway for $42K (what my brother paid). There are all kinds of ways to have fun with cars, and for most of us, price is a factor.

 

LOL, the C5 is a joke.

The M5 is a bmw sports sedan and can out accel and handle it. The corrvette is so supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread.

Ever read the reports how GM is cutting jobs left and right because people arn't buying there products? Read how FORD is loosing a mustang a minute, yes thats $24,000 per minute. Why? Because Americans are going other locations. Untill our product line improves.... I wont be shocked if no one buys american cars.

I wish I could be patriotic and say " I'm proud to drive an american car" ..problem is.... im not. Our cars are poorly built, dont last more than 100,000 miles... they need constant repairs..and above all things they aren't safe. Try throwing a Colbat in the same accident as john was in...he just hurt his leg..

I got in a major accident in my 7 series....slid completely sideways and completely lateral with a incoming imbankment to walk away only seconds later completely un-touched, un harmed.


Cant say thats gonna happen in a ford tarus anytime soon.

 

??? The C5 is a joke because the M5 can beat it? I just dont get that logic... I could just say"LOL the M5 is a joke, the Ferrari Enzo is a sport coupe and cand out handle and out accelerate it all day, M5=LAME". But that wouldnt make sense would it? Because the Enzo costs so much more... Do you realize that the new m5 is like 80,000?? That is double what this guy paid for his corvette... I just dont see why the corvette sucks just because the M5 rules. Thats like saying a Honda sucks just because an Audi is better... Well, the M5 does not outperform a Z06 anyway, so therefore the Corvette cannot be said to suck because it is outperformed by a BMW that costs twice as much.
