why would you make your car misfire for some extra launch boost? that audi makes and awful sound... isn't that bad for the engine???
Well it's bad for your turbine. Basically it strategically cuts some of the spark to your engine so that unburnt fuel enters the exhaust and ignites causing your turbine to spool up. That way you can build boost standing still instead of launching in vac and lagging until you spool. People tend to use it at the strip to get better launches with turbo cars.

Think that S4's backfiring is bad? check this supra...it sets off car alarms:

i would rather get a bigger turbo then swapping my engine after every other race..
Bigger turbo would take longeer to spool and thus slow down your launches... not speed them up. I don't think I'd use one either though. Then again... I don't launch.lol

"Two Step Launch Control

The EMS gives you the ability to define a secondary rev-limiter, commonly called a 2-Step limiter (Full Throttle, Clutch In, you use both feet, 2 step, get it?). With a user defined RPM value and Cut %, you have the ability to tune your launch to suit the track conditions. Additionally, with AEM's definable switch inputs, you can use the 2-step without the requirement of wiring in a clutch switch."

Buddy has a 034efi standalone, and he set up what we would call a 'studder box'. If you watch that '05 H2O vid I occasionally link, you can see him run it up at night, and blast fire from his exhaust pipe as well as the dump valve at the bottom of his down pipe.

That vids on google video, search 'homebrew productions' and look for H2O '05. 2min 38seconds in you'll see what I'm talking about.
