Unhappy Don't fall asleep while driving...

2 in the morning, driving maybe a mile back from a friends house... I was asleep over there and woke up, decided to drive home despite being drowsy. What could go wrong, right? I just live down the road...

Big mistake.

Driving down the road at normal speed.. fall asleep, and this part is still a little unclear what happened next... I think i woke up when i had to make a turn and decided to turn.. the next thing i know i am slamming on the brakes and run right into a tree. My rim hit a curb when I slid off the road and destroyed itself into pieces. This is probably why I couldn't avoid the tree.

How deep do you guys think the damage goes?

That is going to need lots of work. New hood, bumper, wheel and it looks like maybe a new crash bar, axel, and suspension parts. My stupid brother has hit a large pickup head on snoozing and i believe he may of crashed another car for the same thing along with getting a left of center. He isnt narcoleptic or anything, just overworked at times. Just be glad you are ok and hopefully the insurance will cover it.

BTW, any fluids leaking?

OUCH! sorry bro.

seems like it's all cosmetic... besides the suspension. mine was way bent out of shape like yours thinking i'd need a whole new suspension setup, like so:

but lets hope your strut tower/piston just stripped itself from the strut mount/nut.

like cinc said, check for fluid leaks =\

Radiator was cracked by the crash bar, it was hissing and right after the crash the big coolant fluid level warning came on the dash. Thankfully the engine was cold so it didnt overheat or anything. I am not sure of any other fluids that are leaking.. Ill have to go back and check now that it has been towed away.

Now I have to drive a mini van for a couple months

Ouch man, you hit that tree going at least 20mph + didnt you? If you hit with enough force to put the crash bar into the rad, you are in deep on repairs. You are either going to be w/o the car for a long time or its going to be totaled

screw the car, luckily you are still alive and you hit a tree, not a semi or another moving vehicle.

Yeah, I am lucky... no the airbags never went off, so atleast I dont have to get that fixed as well. Do you all think its really totaled? I was thinking about paying out of pocket for insurance purposes.

Whats the KBB on the car? You are probably looking at around $7-8k for repairs at a shop. Less if you can source parts yourself and do some of the work.
