Default DV sputtering

It's probably normal and Im not really toooooo concerned... but I figured I'd ask.
I was running the yellow spring in my DV with one shim. It felt very weak, so I swapped it with the blue spring. It feels much better now. However, if I go to accelerated pretty hard and change my mind (the boost climbs about half way and then I release the gas) I can hear the DV "sputter" for a second... is that normal? lol

Also, I can hit 24 psi of boost in any gear (other than 1st) by like 2300 rpms... I should probably adjust the onset on my BM huh? haha

Your explaination is a little hard to understand. You mean you get "futter" at low boost, (<10psi) that is normal for many dv/bov's. Holding the higher psi is the more important thing. I guess since you are seeing more boost means you have found the right spring. You dont HAVE to change the onset of your boost. You have a small turbo and thats what they do, spool early. So if you do, you just shortened your powerband.

**one final note, if you have 20+psi by 2300rmp's, YOU CAN'T CLAIM YOU HAVE LAG EVER AGAIN!!! That is withen 200rpms of a ko3(s).

You know... you're right. I guess it wouldn't even be considered turbo lag now that
i think of it. The thing is... even though my boost jumps to 20+psi at low rpm, I still don't start to get "throw back in the seat" pull until about 3k-3.5k. so yea, I have to say, I guess I was mistaken. It's not turbo lag, it must just be sluggishness getting the RPMs up to powerband level.

24 is not going to kill a ko4

** Before someone asks... Its the making the turbo hold the boost far past what it can that will wear out the turbo, not a spike of 24psi.

$150 is about what most stock turbos seem to go for on vortex. But agreed, selling stock stuff is a great supplement for new parts. Got my wilwoods for ~$900 and offset that by $225 for the sale of my stock brakes to someone with a regular gti.
