Default Generic VAG-COM

There are a lot of different "generic" versions of the $250 vag-com cable on ebay for A WHOLE LOT LESS. http://cgi.ebay.com/VW-Audi-KKL-OBD2...QQcmdZViewItem

Does anyone use these? Anybody know of anyone using them? Do they work? yada-yada-yada?

So I can get whatever brand I want, even the cheap one, but just make sure it's serial?

Theres still no guarantee it'll work though, so don't be pissed if it doesn't. I think this is one of those 'get what you pay for' moments.

that's life mate I got the cables because they work on other cars "software being the problem", this is no area for the amateur because its possible to delete vital information from the ECU and screw the system up, VAG.COM provide a complete kit with interface and back up "for the novice this is essential" then you just get better at it ( you get what you pay for )

well, i'm one poor SOB right now so it's going to be a WHILE before I can get one. I'm gonna call my mechanic friend I hooked up with last week; the guy with the generic OBDII computer thingy and see if his can clear out my codes and get the light to go off...

BTW: I just got off the phone with my local REVO dealer... The guy was like "damn, lots of TT's the past year or so"... funny - anyway he wants $499 for the flash and $160 for the SPS Switch thing...

[8D]

Clear ECU = This weekend
4 New all season tires = Soon (few weeks)
REVO Flash and SPS = March/April

and that's if nothing major goes wring between now and then
