Going to test drive a S4... could this be the demise of the TT?
Well I've always had a love for S4's and kinda wish I had gone that route istead of getting a TT when I traded my jetta but at that time I really didn't know anything about them.
Anyway, I went for a drive this afternoon and passed by a used car dealership, they had a nice line of Audi's parked on the front row and I noticed one was a S4. I stopped to take a look, one of the salesmen was waiting on me before I even got out of the car, and the first thing he asked me was "man how does that Porsche drive?" lol, deciding to not make him look like a idiot I smiled and sad it drives pretty good
We went over and looked at the S4, it was perfect and just what I would want in a S4. Silver(would perfer nogaro, but oh well), black leather, 2001.5, 75K miles. in gread condition inside and out. they didn't list a price and I forgot to ask but he offered me a test drive so I'm going back on thursday.
I most likely won't trade the TT but I'm really curious to see how the power compares to my TT. after all I should be making 250 which is the stock S4 numbers... pretty tempting to just chip the S4 and have an extra 50hp.
maybe I can keep him convinced my car is a porsche and I can get a trade in value of $40K instead of like $16K

They are nice...thats what i almost got before the TT as well....i've seen them spank the **** out of STIs...plus all the looks and luxury unlike sti
If you can afford the parts/cost with a s4 and want to drive the larger beast, thats up to you. Just remember that @75k, your back into all the maintence cost that the orginal owner probably got rid of it so they didnt have to mess with it.
Also, i like the a4 interior far better than a s4, woodgrain is totally not me.

I went back tonight so that I could see it under the lights to check for scratches... and it turns out it does have quite a few, pretty bad on the trunk and roof, and I also realized the front wheel is curbed to hell and back.
I'm still going to test drive it, but I think I'll pass, atleast on this one.

Being so torn between the 2 cars, I decided to go take some pictures to change my mind... and yeh, I think the sexyness of the TT over powers the speed of the S4
What do you think?

I was torn the same way a while ago. I abstained from the S4 because it looks old and not anywhere near as sexy as the TT. I also didn't like the idea of going from 2900lb 2 door go kart to 3700lb 4 door boat. I can't ditch the sexy two door for a four door, unless it's something of RS4 status or so.
Not to mention reliability. Why was the 2.7T only used on two cars for just over two years? Because that bitch blows the f*** up! Well at least the turbos do, around 100k. But seriously VW has put the 1.8T in just about everything. Even the new 2.0T is basically the same. Why? Because it's reliable. The 2.7 is not as reliable, that's why it was barely used. Also hear it's a pain to work on.
Oh yeah, how would you like buying mods in pairs? Buying two DV's at a time? Two downpipes? Two manifolds? Two turbos? Yeah, it gets expensive. A K04 kit from AWE is $8000.
So yeah I did the deliberating a lot myself. Then I decided to say screw it and get to work on a BT setup for my TT.

does that mean your going to stop complaining about fwd? Just save up more for an lsd to go with the clutch and you will have plenty of traction and far better handling
