I had strange noise begin yesterday and noticed it again today. When and coasting in or out of gear I get a strange noise from the front end. It is a quiet click or pop. It goes away when accelerating or braking. I am led to believe it is a CV going bad and felt a bit of play in the passenger front axle.

So, assuming it is an axle joint: are Mk 4 GTI axles compatible or where would I find one cheap ASAP. I am not worried about longevity as I planned to order some Raxles sooner or later. Please someone, give me a little guidance/help/mercy/pity.

If you plan on getting raxles, in the meantime just buy a repair kit for the inner and outer on both sides.
Both sides shouldnt run you more than 80.00 shipped. Each side per axle takes about 2 hours, but well worth the money saved.
