If you have a 225, you have to remove the charge piping also, but thats a given

I think this is probably THE most detailed writeup I've seen.

This sorta talks about one of the tricks to putting the belt back on.

I do it like a bicycle chain. Get everything in place on all the pulleys, and 'walk' it onto the cam pulley. Just get it started as best you can, then turn the engine over with a wrench on the crank.

BE SURE YOU'RE TIMING MARKS ARE CORRECT BEFORE YOU START THE CAR.
This bears repeating everytime I see a thread like this.

At least TWO full rotations of the crank with a wrench to check that you're not going to drive a valve into a piston. Take your plugs out, the compression can give you false feelings of contact.

Default Thanks!!!

water pump method worked....twice! forgot to move up the motor mount the first time!

Now i think everything is good and i removed the plugs and turned the engine repeatedly...however at times it wont move...i wait then its fine....

all of my marks on the sprockets and covers line up...but im still not 100% confident....are there any other checks i can do before starting the car?

as long as the mark on the flywheel and the mark on the cam pulley are where they should be, you should be good to go.

Its a bit nerve racking on that first start, I know. But if you can get the car turned over by hand, and you can line those marks back up, theres nothing more you can do but turn the key.

x2, I turned mine over like 10 times before I started it LOL...another tip is to walk it onto the crank pulley instead, its a lot easier and you're already there since you turn the engine using the 19mm crank bolt

x2, I think its the easier way.

I do it like a bicycle chain. Get everything in place on all the pulleys, and 'walk' it onto the cam pulley.
