so when im driving, whether i drive slow or fast when i stop at a light or sit still after a second the temp gauge starts to climb to almost the red. any clue why my car would be heating up like this?

thermostat...
poor coolant flow due to bad water pump... the impellers are known to crack and fail.

make sure both your fans are working, just turn on your a/c and they should both be spinning
