Hey guys ... question about the location of our thermostat?
 
I was just wondering about the location of the audi TT thermostat & and its thermostat housing. Does anyone know? I just need to replace my thermostat but i dont where it is located. I tried to follow a Universal diagram but ... im lost

You'll need inspector gadget or that stretchy dude from the fanstastic 4.

It requires a universal joint, and a couple of ratchet extensions, and small hands.

Standing infront of the car, its on the left side of the block, facing toward the front of the car. You almost can't see it its buried so far under there.

Heres some pics and stuff, if you need an actual writeup, search audiworld, theres a few floating around.

Look for one that doesn't involve unbolting the alternator, its easier to do the thermostat that way, but its a pain in the ass to move the alternator, and not totally worth it unless you can't get at the housing due to club hands.

You will need to remove the intake 'L' pipe if you have a 225, and a few other brackets, and the dipstick tube (don't knock junk into it), as well as the ground(?) wire from the alternator. MAKE SURE you disconnect the battery first.

wow thanks alot! yea im actually looking at a diy guide ... and it is hard so if i cant do it i'll probably get a mechanic to do it for me. anyways thanks for your help
