How high will our motors rev? i know we have a redline but, honestly how high will it rev? any1 taken it past red line ?

my friend has 86 Jetta, 1.8T 8V with TDI turbo +SDS and that thing revs beyond the tach, which redlines at 7k or so. in neutral you can slam it, needle burried in the red and it still goes for a few more seconds before u hear it over rev.

plus he is getting a 92 jetta outfitted with a AWP T3/T4 +SDS.

i want to know so that that i can match that to a t3supa60 flow map to know when and how far i can push it compared to when the turbo will fall flat on its face.

why would you want to over rev? you can do some damage, also there isnt any power up that high

with a lot of larger turbos... youhave to be that high to get ANY power; otherwise you wont get much of anything. turbo is too heavy to spin lol. <-- total BS reason for WHY, I actually don't know WHY sopme turbos get all their power @ 6k+ rpms. I would imagine it had something to do with the size, intertia, blah blah blah.

you know what... nevermind. Ask Nate, he'll know.

That was just an example. A lot of people will get bi-turbo or sequential turbo setups that have one really big turbo like we just talked about... and a smaller turbo that kicks in at low RPMs to get them up to the big turbo.

They just piggyback

guy on vortex just made 675whp and doesnt hit boost till about 6k and revs to 8.5k and soon plans on a 9k rev limiter. Thats a big turbo.

Stock head, you can take it to 7500rpms safely all day and you can do 8k+ with new a solid lifter setup. The t3 60 wont be much past 7k. So a 7200 or 7500 redline is plenty.

Are those for the 225 or the 180, or both? I had been wondering the same thing, because I could take my Prelude up to about 8k on the tach, but didn't want to do anything to the TT until I knew more.
