Default U R an inspiration

I am retired and will pinch a penny until Abe taps out. My Central Locking Module is kaput and I intend to remove it and attempt to clean it thoroughly with alcohol as you did. Thank you for your post. I will let you and others know asap my results. It is worth the effort.

just pick up my car from Audi today with the same problem.
labor amount = $560.00
parts amount w/ new valet key(because I only have 1 key) = $742.00
total = $1363.22

didn't cost me a dime though...the dealer I bought the car paid for it...thank goodness

Thks for that picture. Seeing that really helps me (and Im sure others) visualize what this unit looks like. You said its located on the "back passenger side", Im assuming that means behind the passenger seat? I only ask because I recently had the pleasure of removing the radios amplifier, which is on the passenger side, however accessed from the trunk. I felt another module while upside down and sideways (). So Im wondering if that maybe is where you are referring to. Anyway, again, thanks again for that picture.

Btw, if this module is directly behind the seat (inside the car) Im surprised it could get wet......

sorry I should make it more clear, it's toward the back near the trunk on the passenger side. if you have a roaster like I do, water can get in from the back window due to heavy rain which cause the seams to split open from crappy glue or double side tape that Audi used to hold the glass together..

Default to dunkstas: Everything worked except the key FOB. That will need to be re-programmed

How did you get it reprogrammed?
Someone else gave this procedure:
You can resync the key fob by inserting the key in the door, opening and locking it with the key and then pressing the open and close button within 30 seconds.

Default which dealer sells new CCM for $369

"I finally broke down and ordered a new one off a VW dealer website for $369.00."
Which dealer website please? Many thanks
I ordered 2 used ones off eBay: in each case they had different problems than the one in my car, so had to return them.
