Unhappy Immobilizer III cluster in 2000 TT - HELP!

I just bought a brand new cluster that apparently is designed for Immo III cars (2002 or newer?) I read that older clusters would not work in newer cars but newer cluster could work in older cars, but I am starting to get worried. When I installed the new cluster (0 miles, still wrapped in plastic) the car started and displayed correct gas, speed and temp. The tach does not work and the cluster keeps beeping with the immobilizer key flashing. The center display tells me to press cluth petal to start even when the car is started. Any experts willing to chime in with some good news?

cliff notes: New immo III cluster installed in 2000 Audi TT, no tach, display says press clutch to start even when car is started

The ecu and cluster must match up. Since the cluster has immo3 on it and the ecu doesnt, the cluster sounds like its looking for the immo info from the ecu. You may need to do the same thing as adding a immo ecu into a car that doesnt have it. See link http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/car...-swapping.html

^ you may need to call up where ever you go the cluster from and get the skc number
