Input on 2004 S-line performance upgrades?
Hello everyone. I'm awaiting delivery of a 2004 S-Line TT for my wife. While the stock 250hp will be plenty to make her happy, I have to have a plan to make the car more enjoyable for me. I'm not overly mechanically inclined and am much more familiar with upgrading vehicles such as Ford mustangs/lightnings or imports such as Evos/350Zs. I would love some input as to initial upgrades that can be performed without excessive cost or complex installation issues. I live in a relatively rural area and while there are several good mechanics in the area, I doubt they have ever dealt with Audi performance upgrades. If anyone knows of any good performace shops in Louisiana or the Dallas/Houston areas I would love to know about them. Anyway, as my knowledge base for performance upgrades for Audi is essentialy none, I'm open to ideas. I've looked a little at some of the posts, but it is taking a long time to get to ones that seem applicable to my situation...I'll keep trying though...
I guess my initial goal would be to shoot for perhaps 240-250hp at the wheels
Are there custom chips available from different sources?
What are the weakest links in the engine/transmission that I need to be aware of and at what power levels do they become an issue?
Thanks so much. I look forward to being part of the Audi community.

yea uh, 3.2s are harder to upgrade than the 1.8T's simply because the 3.2s are not turbo'd...
see how oyu like the car at first and then go from there, just be aware that it will be quite expensive to mod

It's gonna take some money to get more power out of the 6 cylinder. Chips aren't worth it for your model IMO. For $500 you get maybe 10bhp. The engine you have has much more potential over the 1.8 in the long run due to the bigger displacement but the 1.8 is easliy modded seeing that it is turbocharged. A chip alone on the 225bhpQuattro model(the 1.8 comes in a few models..mainly the 180hp or the 225hp versions) bumps hp and torque higher than your model for $500, 260-265hp and 290-300tq.
You also metioned you are in a rural area. Make sure to find a shop that is familiar with Audi/VW. I live in Seattle and several shops around wouldn't even touch the car to do a timing belt. I finally found a reliable good shop that only does Audi/VW.
If you aren't that mechanically enclined, as you stated..throw on a catback and intake...simple bolt on's anyone can do in less than an hour on a Saturday with a socket set and some wrenches. It's going to be much more involved and beyond your talentto reach your goals on your own.
