more boost

Well I just got an 02 tt quatro (180)and it lacks power. So I decided to hook up a boost guage (connected it to the vacume line off of the waste gate) and it only reads 5-6lbs for boost.Thishas tobeincorrect,if notcan I use a manual boost controler to increase the boost to 11-12 pounds?

RE: more boost

i think that's the right pressure for the 180.
10 is 225 territory.

RE: more boost

yes, Nate has a writeup on how to do the diode mod with a mbc
It's cheap, seems to be working fine for people that do it, but i myself would just save up for a chip.

My car was reading around 11 psi off my boost gauge before I touched an mbc and my car's not chipped or diode mod. He's gotta be getting more boost than 5-6psi, or else i'm mildly confused.

The 225 runs around 14 stock. The 5-6 on your 180 seems way off, should be around 11 from what I've learned.

5-6 psi means that your car is in "limp" mode. It means that the ECU will not allow anything more than 5psi. If reset your ecu, by disconnecting the positive off the termainal of the battery, wait about 15min then hook it back up and drive and see if you notice more power. If not then there is something wrong with the car and you need to get it checked out. Make sure you know your radio code beacasue it will be locked when you hook your battery back up. Good luck.
