Default NO REVERSE HELP!?

I just picked up a 2002 TT 180bhp with an installed dump valve which was driving fine until recently it wouldnt go into reverse! Fine 90% of the time but now it wont go into reverse and is sitting in my sloped driveway! Any idea what this could be? I just received a VAG-COM cable today in the post so if you think it could be something electrical I would appreciate knowing what to look for?

Appreciate any help as i have drop my son to summer camp every morning so need to resolve this asap.

Thanks,

G.

my guess is your shift linkage..

also check in the engine bay next to the battery and see if anything is blocking the the shifter on top of the tranny.

Thanks for the input Ryan but all seems clear under the hood. Where can i see the shift linkage? Is it part of the gearbox away from eyes?

Any other suggestions appreciated all!

Cheers,

G.

well your shifter is underneath your airbox.. idk if that would help you out or not... however, i doubt your problem is electrical and is mechanical...

Thanks for the reply kid I will check that too. Could it simply be the gearbox on the way out or would all gears be affected?

Cheers,

G.

Well you wont believe it! It was a screw from the Battery covering that fell under the shifter! Could see it with torch when my mate tried to put the car into reverse! Got the magnetic screwdriver out and voila! screw removed and reverse working perfect again

Thanks guys! I would have never found where to look without your help!

Cheers,

G.
