Default Normal Engine Temperature

Got a quick one.... My friend has an 01 TT, not sure of anymore details but she had some cooling work done on the vehicle. The temp guage shows that it may be running hot. It is showing one line above the 1/2 way point. From my minimum research, i understand the guage malfunctions are common, and the engine runs hot because of the close quarters in the engine compartment. I am just trying to get a feel to determine what the normal operating temp should be.

Thanks,
Jim

Mine shoes it running one knotch below the center mark, (I just bought it yesterday, I was also wondering what is normal) I was curising in 5th gear for 250miles.

Sound about right?

My temp. gauge always sits in the middle, even when I get on it (after it warms up of course).

I drive mine everyday to and from work and it is always right in the middle. This past weekend I took it to a local road track and after running eight thirty minute runs with around thirty minutes break in between runs it was still in the middle but was edging up just a little.

Do you think it running " cooler " is an issue...or maybe a bad temp gauge?

Don't do it. Water Wetter will create sludge when mixed with G12. Do a search on the Audiworld forum and you will see there are many accounts that attest to this.

You're not going to be running too cool, don't worry.

If your therm. guage reads cool, replace it.

If it reads hot, replace it as well. Check coolant system, fan, etc.

I purchased a 160 degree thermostat and that works well for keeping the motor cooler but the guage still reads middle once its warmed up.
