Default Oil Pressure vs Oil Temp Gauge

First off, I think all cars should have an Oil Pressure Gauge. Obviously my TT does not. I would like to install one in my new gauge cluster but am worried about potential install and hose/line problems over time. Hot oil on carpet is not a good mix. So, I am considering an Oil Temp Gauge. A couple of questions:

Can I get good information from an Oil Temp Gauge? I'm not really familiar with them, and none of my previous cars have had one.
Anyone familiar with the drain plug sensor?

Any other feedback and/or suggestions are welcome.

Very cool. Does this in any way cause a problem with current "idiot light" sensor?
