Default Which Order would you MOD your TT

I have a 2000 TT 180 Quattro. What would be your opinion of how I should mod it. What I mean is in which order would you do it. From most important to least important.

Thanks

Chip it, new DV, Intake, FPR, Exhaust, Clutch, FMIC that is what I think is the order that I would go in.

ORIGINAL: 225tt

Almost correct... Chip, DV, 19mm Rear sway bar, Exhaust, Coilovers, Big Brakes, FMIC...

Don't replace the clutch until you need to, as long as you don't abuse it, it should be fine for 100K or more.

The FPR isn't necessary for the 180 unless you go with a **** or big turbo and oversized injectors. The stock 3bar FPR will deliver adequate fuel for even a chipped car, 225 included.

The 19mm Neuspeed or 21mm H&R rear sway bar will do a lot for your overall handling and will make the car more neutral on cornering.

I take a different approach to mods, especially if it's a car you've just acquired.

First off, I make sure it's tuned up. All fluids, all maintenance, all major service items complete.

Then.... (in the order I plan for my 02 TT [finally getting her on Monday]). Also, mine already has a chip and DV, but I'll list the order I WOULD add those. Also, these are just those for the motor, I'm keeping the list short as possible.

1) Turbo timer
2) Boost guage
3) Chip & DV
4) Exhaust
5) Intake w/ better tubes
6) Short shifter
7) DV shimming
8) "Boost Machine" w/ upgraded (or just de-screened) MAF
9) Electronically-actuated exhaust cat-bypass diverter valve and bypass pipe (push button from cockpit).
10) Phenolic spacers
11) FMIC w/ header wrap and I/C mister
12) Hotter plugs
13) 4.0 bar FPR and bigger turbo kit (if you must).

At least, that's my list. Already a little ways into it!

we dont have headers on our cars. lol plus i heard the heat wrap crap actually keeps the heat in and doesnt really help much. granted it might keep the heat lower in the engine bay but heats up the stuff thats wrapped ie. bad

but yeah before anyone mods their car they need to make sure all the maintence stuff is done 1st. Oil & filter change, magnetic drain plug, spark plugs, fuel filter, intake filter, haldex fluid and filter change, transmission fluid change and magnetic drain plug(transfer case side). brakes, motor mounts and dogbone mount bushings. replace old vac hoses, powersteering fluid, brake fluid, grease down bushings etc.

About the headers, I know -- I mean wrapping the I/C piping... I have seen this work well in other applications.

Hey Mean,

The Car i purchased has been maintained very good. I know the guy that purchased it new and he traded it to our dealership and i purchased it for me.

Question: What kind of fluids synthetic and weights do you use? if you went through th elist what would you use to change the fluids with.

i'v used just about every oil. syn and regular. (always syn in audi) i've used the oem stuff from germany, mobil 1, castrol syn. i just put in the castrol syn so i'll let you know how it works out. i think its 5w 40 like the book says. for the tranny fluid i think used the redline mt-90 75w 90, i'll double check when i get home. its best to always use the audi stuff since its really good anyway(and pricy) like all the power steering fluid, i've only seen at the dealership or online (ecstuning.com) and the brake fluid(dot 4) and of course the oem pentosin audi g12 coolant cant be mixed with other coolant.

Yeah, speaking of that antifreeze - when I first got my TT I did the usual once over and at first look the Audi OEM antifreeze is rust colored and I almost lost it! lol Here I just bought from an auction this car with no warranty (besides the fact that it had under 33k miles) and it had rust in the coolant! Took it straight to a radiator guy I know and got my first lesson on how I don't know jack about Audi's [sm=icon_rofl.gif]
