Possible TCM Trouble??
I need some help in diagnosing a problem with my 2003 audi tt roadster (fwd) 1.8t. It all started whenthe battery went dead. Go in turned the key and nothing happened. Turned the key again and the console went blank and the radio went blank. Closed and locked the door and the security light in the door wasn't even blinking.New battery was put in and started the car andproblems begin. The transmission clunks into reverse andcarcan back up. Put the transmission in Drive andit clunks intoa gear. The transmissionstays in that one forward gear. The radio does not work. Then I notice that on the instrument sluster the ESP light stayson whether I push the button to turn it on or off. The tachometer works aswell as the gas gaugeand the coolant temperature guage. The speedomoter does not work. Mileage, date and time work.In the middle lcd of the instrument cluster only the 2 middle sections of it display. The temperature in the 2nd from top section and the mpg, miles leftin gas remaining, etc. The bottom section of the lcd normally displays the transmission D,R,1,2,3 etc. but is blank. The top part of the lcd normally display the radio information I believe. When I turn the key to start, the middle lcd says "Depress clutch to startengine." but the transmission is a tiptronic automatic. Thetiptronic does not work ifI push the gear shift over to the right to shift up and down as needed. I have checked fuse panel and under the hood (top of battery and back by firewall) and all looks okay to me.
I have used vag-com to resolveother smaller problems, but I need some help indiagnosing the problem correctly with this one. I have the Bently repair book, but am not real good at reading their electronic diagrams. They arechopped up into small diagrams and are hard to read they are so small. Any helpis appreciated. What steps would I take to work thru the electical system to determine the problem. The scan mentions tcm a few times. But also says can't communicate with tcm. Not sure if wiring or some part is malfunctioning or it might be the tcm. Ihave posted the vag-com scan below. Thanks for any help.
