Price check!

Price check!
So, I called a local audi dealer that operates about 15 minutes away from me to see if he was able to replace my Timing belt/tensioner/waterpump. He says he can do the job for ~$800 said done deal. Is that a fairly good price for parts/labor? To me it didnt seem too awful high and didn't beat the crap out of my wallet.

RE: Price check!
I checked with my guy and he said it would be around $720, but I think thats a pretty good price from a dealer cause then you have the warranty and if something does go wrong I'm sure they would have a rental if needed which you might not get from a local shop.

That's interesting that the dealersare so far out of the ball park on that stuff.
I won't need one for another year or 2 but the one here quoted me a range $900-$1600. !?!
There are so many things on the internet now with companies that compete for business (like lending tree). There are also home repair sites that compete for jobs. I would think there would be an auto mech one two somewhere. ?

$800 is about what it would cost you at an Indie shop, so that is a great price from a dealer. Just make sure they have quoted the waterpump with a metal impeller. After it is done, you should probably report the dealer.. obviously they are giving the rest of the dealers a bad name.

Well, $800 to me sounds nice (and makes my wallet happy lol) I talked to my friend who helped me build up my 88 Camaro, and he gave me the number to a VW/Audi Specialist, who quoted me $400 Parts+Labor. That is beyond incredible for my ears to hear. Esp after he told me how much work is involved in replacing the few items. Woot to connections I guess .
