Problems starting after gas fillup
If its only after you filled up, it sounds like bad gas. Take some beano and feel better. Sorry wrong gas, if so, run it for a bit and take it to another station and fill it up with a differnt brand of 91/93. Do that a few times to counter the bad gas.
Does it ever almost die at idle? If so, you might need to turn up your idle, bout doubtful.
Is it cold where you're at? Could explain the issues with starting in the morning...
Are you running <91 octane? Mine had problems with 89 octane, threw a CEL...
If it hasn't been occuring over time, cincy's probably right - bad gas. But if it's happened over time with various fill-ups, you'll need to narrow down the problem more in order to troubleshoot it.

This has only happened once, but when I started my car the other day, not at a gas station, my car died right after it started, but it started right up the next try. I could smell gas when it started, it was like it was flooded, but I didn't hit the gas so it shouldn't of been.
good thread though.....i've been searching for a way to turn up the idle...maybe like 300 rpms is this possible with the motronic throttle? i know how to do this with cars that have throttle cables but not the electroic ones like the TTs

the cars have DBW, so you cannot flood them.

Idle adjustment can be set with vag-com. Don't know what block though, these are all things I find when I'm bored, and just scrolling thru every system I can. I should probably start making notes.
I talked to my daughter again about this problem and she says that everytime she fills the tank (she only uses the highest octane fuel) she has to press on the gas peddle in order for it to start. It only does it after the fillup. Thanks for the replies so far.
