Question for the Vortexers.
Theres an 05 GTI with a 1.8 on the lot. I've already looted the sirius Starmate-R setup out of it. It also has a Samco TIP, and P-Flo intake(not my favorite but better then the stock airbox).
I think I can convince the Used car Sales Manager to let me swap the TIP out for my stock one under the premise of it being easier to sell a car that hasnt been worked over. The question is does the TT airbox fit an 03 GTI so maybe I can grab the P-Flo too? Its hard to tell just looking at it, but the placement is identicle. I wont be wholly disappointed if its not a possibility as I'd rather have a VTDA, but wont argue with a free intake if its possible.
I'd post up on Vortex myself, but am still waiting out the registration. Any kind of help is appreciated.

the intake will fit ANY 1.8t fwd car regardless. As for the tip it would have to corispond to you model year. For instance if you have a atc you need a awd code. so if you have a 02 and on tt it should fit you car fine.
I cross checked the part numbers on Neuspeed and Samcos respective website and since they matched up I went ahead and started snagging parts.
The OEM airbox from a 2001 AWP TT does in fact fit a 2005 GTI, and I now own a P-Flo.
The Turbo Inlet is a little different. Same part number but apparantly theres a metal neck off the turbo inlet that connects to the stock rubber hose that has to be unbolted from the turbo housing to mount the Samco Hose. So I have my rubber Inlet out, and if the GTI is still there when my car is on the lift for the waterpump/T-Belt job I'll go ahead and unbolt the OEM metal inlet piece and snag the TIP then. If we sell the GTI before that point, Ill just have to order one.
It would be a shame as the one in the GTI is blue and would be a freebie andeverything. But, hey, I got the expensive part already (plus I swapped my 6 year old MAF for a newer 2005).
My job RULES! Free parts are great.

Also on Samco's website theres several part numbers for silicone turbo plumbing kits for theVW's AWP engine code from 5 to 7 pieces (Golf, Beetle, Jetta)
Any ideas on how many, if any of these hoses might be transferrable to the TT AWP and which would be the best platform to pick them from?
Just looking for more options on the poor neglected 180's. Then again, maybe I'll just get the $200 intercooler core from ECS and use some of the universal parts samco offers to make my own plumbing.
[edit] Plus my T-Belt kit shipped today and is scheduled for a Friday delivery so I'll have my car back this weekend after two long months.

Cool list. The problem is Quattro on the 1.8T is unique to the Audi platforms, which may provide interference with using parts off other cars(downpipes, and plumbing and such). Even the differences between the AWP and AMU are pretty staggering.
I dont mind experimenting, but I dont mind checking to see if anyone else has tried any of my ideas first. Good news is I'll get to cross reference plenty of applications as I run across them.
Can anyone with the Samco TIP on a 180 verify having to unbolt a metal tube from the turbo housing to connect the new hose? I'm referring to the piece that connects directly to the rubber flex hose via a spring clip.
[edit] Nevermind, a little browsing on Ebay and I found the metal inlet, held to the compressor by a single bolt. Definitely looks to be easier to get to from underneath.

Looks like Im snagging a freshly rebuilt T3/T4 (IHI variant) off an SVO Mustang. No shaft play. .57 COMPRESSOR WHEEL TRIM, .50 A/R COMPRESSOR, .63 A/R TURBINE. capable of 530hp or so. 25 psi in the sweet spot of the map.
I may have a monster on my hands.
