replace ecm or sell?
i've got a silver 2000 TT quattro (1.8/180 HP/PS) with 100k miles near portland, or. it suddenly wouldn't start and the shop says it needs a new ecm/computer for ~$900, as well as some gaskets and some other minor things.
is there a cheaper way to source an ecm? if not, i'm considering selling it -- anyone interested, or have an idea what a fair price would be in this condition?

Yes i am interested to buy it.I'm a college student, by the way, and I found a fantastic website that made it easy for me to find the best CV writer to make my resume appear professional. After reading resumesplanet reviews, I made the decision to hire them to create my resume, and they performed a fantastic job. There may be a lot more companies on this website that can assist you in developing a professional CV.

I'll just tell my little tale: Three years ago a crazy 36 hours of heavy rain led to my TT suddenly not starting. A breakdown truck was arranged and tipped the car up for transportation (little did I know water in the module area sloshed everywhere and compromised the working of the CCM). Drying out the area (hairdryer) brought it back to life ... but then a too vigorous clean of a corroded -looking area of the control module motherboard (controlling roof / petrol cap / boot / interiors lights) caused those areas to fail again...sigh. This was sorted by local computer repair wiz who did some soldering on the v. small scratch - damaged area. Everything but my central locking issues was sorted for just £20 (I was quoted £200 just to look at it from an online company with no guarantees they could fix!). Main dealer would have talked replacing *£1000 +
As for selling the CCM? TTs are notorious for initialising / syncing problems with replacement / new CCMs so that can end up REALLY expensive... !
