Hi everyone, iam new to this forum and have posted in the newbie section. I bought a 2004 audi tt 1.8t AUQ engine code for spares or repair last week. the engine had a rattle on start up and then re appered when hot. I have a fair bit of experience with this model engine and thought It would be worth a punt. I changed the cam chain tensioner and all was good, no more rattles and ran sweet as a nut until the dreaded oil can appered followed by 3 beeps , my first thought was ahh the oil pick up pipe must be blocked so I stoped the engine immediately and got it recovered home, today I dropped the sump and removed the pick up pipe. I noticed the pick up pipe was slightly blocked but nothing to major so I cleaned it out along with the sump. I then put it all back together again and put a fresh oil filter and oil into the car. I checked the oil levels then started the car and let it idle for around 10 mins. I then took it out on a test drive and all seemed good. I got home a re checked the levels again and they were fine. happy days I thought and how wrong was I, I went back out in the car and aprox 5 miles into my journey the oil light came back on again . I turned the car off and left it for a few mins. I then started it back up again and it drove fine for about 3 miles and it came on again and again and again. I wasn't to far from home so I eased her back and parked it back up. there are recipts from an independent audi specialist which state its had a new turbo, new oil pump, a full service, new boost pipes and new breather pipes all within the last 2 months. I don't really know where to go from here with the car now its in relly good condition, there isn't one mark on her and the interior is immaculate aswell. just really frustrated now as I thought it was all done. have any of you come across this before? also when the oil light comes on the engine doesn't make any stange noises and it doesn't sound like its being starved of oil it still runs very quiet and theres no tapping from the top end.
