Running lean?
So I tried the Unplug the MAF trick tonight when I got home. Sure enough, it's faulty. With almost 100,000 Miles on the car too, Ill just buy a new one from ECS once I learn how to identify what engine code my Audi is lol. The next part though leads me to beleive either the cars running super lean, or, burning oil.
The tip has a buildup of black residue, and, it's also making quite a mess of the Whole *** end of my car. Please chime in w/ anything I should also check. I'm pretty much gonna do a tune up (NGK's, Ignition wires if I can find some good name brands,Coilpack,Air filter, MAF) Since the MAF has been messed up for who knows how long, could that have caused all of this black residue? I'm gonna clean the whole car saturday and see if it returns (hope not...) Doesnt look to be burning any oil either -_-

If you have black soot on the exhaust its more than likely you are running rich rather than lean. How do the spark plugs look?
As far as your engine code, remove the plastic engine cover and look at the front passenger side corner of the engine, you should see an embossed stamp that shows your engine code.

I think your pvc valve took a dump and you got blow by oil all in your intake. To check for lean/rich like steve said is check you plugs white = lean black = rich and normal is well, normal. But thats not your problem.
