Safe Boost?
Hey all i just got my car back (2000 TT 1.8t)and what we did was put in a new stage 1 clutch witha light weight fly wheel. We also built a full three inch exhaust from downpipe to flex then cat to straight all the way back. We also installed a boost gauge and i placed the 15-20psi spring in my DV and now im boosting 17psi at peak. My question is this safe and am i running it lean?
You can pull the ECU and it should have a decal or an actual chip on it depending if it was flashed or not. You can also go to a local shop (not dealer) and have them scan it. The one I went to for GIAC could tell that REVO's trial had been installed dispite it returning to stock once the trial was up.
Ok soI did a pull on the highway till 125. I was pulling 17psi with noproblem then when i hit 120 125ish i hit boost cut and it droped me to 12psi. Whats going on here? Am i running lean at all? Also would this be something the diode Mod could fix?
Did your boost cut out or did your governor kick in? did it continue accelerating or did the pedal just kind of go limp?
sounds kind of odd to me though. you're in a TT 180 so you shouldn't hit 17psi at all unless you're chipped... but if you're chipped, you shouldn't be governed anymore. you may just be hitting the backside of your power band at 125. with these stockturbos, the back side of the powerband sucks major *****. Regardless, in a 180, you shouldn't have much torque @ 125mph anyhow. Once you get to 125... it's usually a slow process getting into the higher speeds. My 225 accelerates quickly up to high speed, but once it's up in the high 140's... it takes a while to get up any faster. It'll pull... and make it up to about 160-165... but like I said before, its a slow acceleration.
