Default Service Light Reset

Ok guys I feel really stupid posting this, but I am at wits end. When I start the car the service light shows on the display. I have tried the hold the right stalk in, ignition on, press left thing, but it won't clear (i have the owner's manual). Any ideas why? it still shows "SERVICE !"

there's 2 buttons on your dash, the right one resets the tripometer.

hold both of those down and then turn ur ignition to the ON then hold then release the right button, while still holding onto the left button then start your car. then it should reset!

now i feel dumb, because i CANT get mine to reset and i've reset it one other time, a LONG time ago.

i've tried every combination of holding in both buttons and releasing them after the "OK", or holding both until the car starts, or holding both and releasing the right one, or holding just the right one, etc...

I wish I knew what I was doing wrong. sigh.

okay...
so...

hold down both buttons
put key in
turn key to on
wait until OK goes away
release right button
start car

thats the process i used. am i supposed to only start holding the buttons after the key is put in? I think thats the only thing i didnt do.
