My driver-side side skirt, on the front end has a small area thats rusty where it meets the fender, and on its lip within the wheel well. I was hoping you guys could provide some advice on how to handle it. The passeneger side shows simillar but lesser rust within the wheel well but not at the fender like the drivers side.

Also, has anyone updated their door striker ? According to ECS tuning: "This door striker (sic)is the latest on versions that VW & Audi have released. This stricker plate has a black/charcoal stricker bar versus the old versions have all chrome/silver unit. If you already have the charcoal/black stricker on your VW or Audi then this is not a upgrade (sic) it is just a replacement part for a worn unit." Mine isnt noticably noisey, but anything to tightenup the car sound wise would be cool, since its a roadster. Seems exspensive for something I am not sure I need, I feel like my money would be better spent on a hose kit or saving for a silicone TIP. That sounds so wrong

RE: Side Skirts
urethane doesnt rust. Its most likely just brake dust.

Lower side panel isn't plastic, it'll rust.

Front edge? Been sand blasted pretty good with road debris until the paint wore thru probably. Had the same problem on my 180.

All the aftermarkets I know of glue over the original.

Click the pic to blow it up to a size where you can see the rinky dink circle I drew on it :-P

I am talking about the long horizontal piece that runs beneath the door and goes up on the engine/front end to where the fender meets, I attached a pic thats not my car to show the piece. If this piece is not metal, is the fender? Perhaps what I am seeing is rust from the metal brackets. I will really try to get out and snap a pic tommorrow, we have got so much friggin snow here its not been high on the list of stuff to do. thanks

RE: Side Skirts
the skirt is plastic but it looks like there is a metal reinforcement plate on it. The fender is either steel or alum, not sure.

RE: Side Skirts
fair enough, thanks for the knowledge. I wouldnt be surprised at 84k if some moisture has gotten to that bracket. I know some people think the v1's are over the top, but I plan on going that route and some new skirts next year so i shall find out at some point. Those osir fenders are so gd exspensive for unpainted fiberglass, **** me off haha. the tt is like a piggy bank that you can never get your money back out of....but its still awesome.

RE: Side Skirts
That whole side piece is steel, trust me, I've demo'd my cars enough to see them inside and out.
