So I am in the market for a TT...
Well at least I thoughtI was. As I have been looking around the web I see a lot of people with some problems ranging from windows to blown engines due to timing belts.
From what I can gather the timing belt needs to be changed at 60k miles. That sucks for someone like me who is looking for a used car. The crazy tire wear problem kept me from getting a 350z instead of my jeep wrangler in 04, I am wondering if this issue is something that just makes it not worth it. I am trying to stay ~$16000 for a replacement for my jeep. I have not gotten to test drive a TT yet, are there any year models to stay away from? I have been poking around cars.com and saw several turbos that look like they are in my price range, but is the 225 really that much bang for the buck better than the 180 when it comes to the added gas cost/any other extra maintenance that may come with the turbo? Does the 180hp model drag? i.e. does it feel underpowered? I guess thats a good start for questions, I will tailor the rest of them to what I get back from these. thanks in advance for any help. |

RE: So I am in the market for a TT...
looks like a good deal, but I am trying to buy local if I can.
if I was going to get a 180 I would get something like: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...p;aff=national because it is right down the road and I can go test drive it. |

i didnt know TT's came in 4x4.
I would atleast go test drive it and see if you like it. I dont know how much you or anyone wants the blue leather, but it would be a good place to start. |

is that blue? looks grey in the pic to me, but I am the noob so it may be blue. I like the blue paint though.

Like anything else, You'll hear many more complaints about something not working than you will about how well it works.
Think about how often peoplelove totell you how you screwed up at work, but you will never hear them say, "Great job using the xerox machine today, Ted!" Anyway... get a 225 if you can afford it... I've only had my 225 since saturday, I want more power already. It's quick, but I could use a little more. I don't know how i'd feel if I drove a 180. |

RE: So I am in the market for a TT...
the blue leather is terrible IMO. equally as bad is the red w/ red steering wheel.

The red is so nice, but i would HAVE to have a black steering wheel though.
