Default Turbo problem?

Hello, I have a 2001 TT (225hp AWD) and I've noticed that if I'm at a stop and I take off I get much better performance at 3/4 throttle than if I really mash it. Is it a turbo issue? Vaccum leak? I'm new to TT's so not sure what it is but it doesn't seem consistent. I know there is a lag but it doesn't seem so much a lag issue.

Thanks in advance for your response!

Are youtalking normal starts or racing starts? 3/4 or normal would be rediculous, 3/4 for racing wouldn't be so rediculous. I have to hold the rpm at no less than 4000rpm to get a decent start in mine when racing. Otherwise, I think the traction control kicks in and bogs down the engine.

That sounds more like a dv issue than anything else. What dv are you running now?

I'm just talking about when I take of from a stop light (not racing) and I give it full throttle it is slower than if I give it a bit less like 3/4 throttle. So you are saying thatwhat could be happening is that the traction control is bogging it down?

Thanks for the response!

If your light with a triangle is flashing, power is being taken away

Thanks for al the replies! Sorry, I'm a newb when it comes to turbo charged engines. What is a diverter valve? I do think I have a vaccum leak. At idle parked if I rev it up it revs down slowly and that usually means a vaccum leak right? If that is correct could that have something to do with it?

Thanks,

Inibalir

That means you have a heavy *** dual mass flywheel. The diverter valve releases the pressure when you shift or let off the gas so you dont slow down/damage the turbo. If your stock, you should replace it. You can look in the classifieds for a used on for cheap or go to ecstuning.com and buy a nice one. Forge makes a nice one (model 007)

reminds me ofthe suggestion on AW that the car is faster with the pedal not all the way down, and people started putting a little spacer in between the stopper and the pedal... found it was kinda strange so I tried it out but never noticed anything different
