turbo/ super charger

RE: turbo/ super charger
It absolutely is. Lancia Delta S4 Group B rally car back in the day. Check out http://www.autozine.org/strange_car/...-Quattro-Sport for more info.
I've seen a few other cars employ this concept including MR-2's, an RB26DETT (Nissan Skyline GT-R) was fitted with both simulataneously on overboost.com, and some of the new Mini Coopers are doing such a design. Basically you could defeat any sort of turbo-lag since a supercharger makes boost instantaneously and then the turbocharger kicks in. Must be a pretty neat feeling and sound.
Nowadays I believe the rally cars just employ anti-lag, which retards the ignition timing to a degree that the flamefront of combustion actually comes out into the exhaust manifold and prevents the turbine wheel from slowing down.
