when i gas it and get to about 4k rpm my turbo makes this weird sound, its hard to describe kinda like a higher pitched whistle/sorta like the one you hear on a plane engine when its just sitting there, like you can hear the normal engine, but theres a higher pitchedscream/whistle that you can also hear ...im a little new to audi's, but it kinda sounds like the spool is over spinning or something similar, if you can emagine that kind of sound...im really not sure if its anything bad or just me overacting

i know some one will post "dude your dumb, thats your turbo" so dont waste your time, im only worried that it could be my turbo about to go, and yes ive shearched the forums, the posts i read just dont seem to be the same as my problem

You basically have a fan that is rotating over 100k times/min, its gonna make noise. Go on youtube and listen to some cars with larger turbos making 500+ whp. Those things SCREAM when they are making 20-30psi.

Or even a stock turbo with a highflow intake, and no muffler. My car @ 225hp sounds like those 500hp ones, so I guess once you hit a point, it all sounds about the same.


Listen to this though, this like what you were talking about. Pretty sure it was just putting the K03 to its limits, or a boost leak that only showed under higher boost numbers, or both. My 180 would struggle to get to 130 on a very slight incline, and I'd watch boost drop off slowly to about 10-11 psi if held under load (like high gears).

You hear a distinct whine come on about 4700 RPMs. This was with the APR 93 tune.
